Momentum Through the Pain: A Mom’s Guide to Finding Peace and Purpose with RA
Have you ever felt like you’re just trying to survive the day? Between motherhood, work, and the relentless-unpredictable pain of RA, it can feel impossible to move forward. I’ve been there, and I want you to know – you are not alone.
Time. It keeps moving, no matter how much – or how little – we can manage in a day. Before my diagnosis, I never thought much about it. Time just happened. I flowed with it, especially during life’s big moments, like maternity leave. I had 12 weeks to bond with my newborn, adjust to life as a family of four, and soak in those precious moments.
But at just five weeks postpartum, everything changed. My body felt like it was shutting down. I couldn’t bend my knees, walk without excruciating pain, or even lift my arms to nurse my baby. Every movement felt like my bones were breaking. I was terrified. How could I be the mom my boys needed when I could barely move?
After weeks of confusion, pain, and countless doctor visits, I finally had an answer: rheumatoid arthritis. My rheumatoid factor was off the charts, and suddenly, everything made sense – but it didn’t make it easier. I’d been robbed of my body, my time, and the ability to simply be.
But here’s the thing: I didn’t stay there. And you don’t have to either.
From Surviving to Thriving
When I was first diagnosed, every day felt like a battle I was losing. But slowly, I realized something powerful: I couldn’t control my RA, but I could control how I showed up for myself.
That mindset shift didn’t happen overnight. It started with small, intentional steps—moments where I reclaimed just a little bit of my time, energy, and purpose. I prioritized what truly mattered, let go of the guilt that came with asking for help, and began building systems to support me on both the good and bad days.
And guess what? Those little steps added up. They created momentum.
I’m not saying it’s easy—far from it. But I believe, with the right mindset and the right support, you can find your rhythm again. You can thrive, even when RA throws you a curveball.
Why I Created The RA MOMentum Club
I couldn’t stop – and I still can’t stop thinking – about other moms with RA, the ones suffering in silence like I once did. I knew I couldn’t be the only one juggling motherhood, work, and the pain of this disease, wondering if anyone out there truly understood.
That’s why I created The RA MOMentum Club. This isn’t just another community – it’s a space designed specifically for moms like us. A space where you can:
- Find support from women who get it.
- Learn practice tips to make everyday tasks easier, even on flare-up days.
- Feel empowered to reclaim your time and focus on what matters most.
- Celebrate your wins, no matter how small, because every step forward counts.
You don’t have to do this alone. Together, we can turn those everyday struggles into opportunities for growth and empowerment.
Let’s Build Your Momentum
If you’re ready to take that first step, I’m here to walk alongside you. Whether you join the Club, explore my blog, or just read these words, know this: you are strong, capable, and worthy of a life filled with peace and purpose.
RA might be a part of our story, but it doesn’t have to define us.
